Help! I'm losing my way...
There seems to be a myth surrounding romance writers that refuses to dissipate (at least, in my experience) - the one where we write our books to a well-known formula. A guarded secret to which only the successful have access. So, what constitutes successful...because I have hit a slump with my current work in progress and cannot seem to get myself out of it.
I am a very new Harlequin author (my debut was published in Feb this year), and since then I am thrilled to say I have contracted four more books. Am I flying from the buzz of it? YES!!!!....but that doesn't help me get past the 'slump'. Do any of my established and successful colleagues have some tips??
Giving our readers and aspiring writers a great book, a book that makes them laugh, cry, want to read more––or write more––is why I love this job. I am living my dream and it feels amazing, but I am under no illusion that it gets any easier. I can't help thinking the reason for that is we want to write better and better stories and deliver Harlequin the best we possibly can.
