Xmas in the UK!

Well, that's it, another year over and another one stretched before us an abundance of opportunities and experiences. I love the start of a New Year! It's more exciting to me than Christmas purely because of the buzz of new decisions, goals and personal growth.

For the Brimble family, Christmas 2012 was a rather quiet affair  in our little market town in South West England. We gathered at my in-laws for lunch (along with my parents) which was really nice. As usual, my husband's mother went all out with the food - traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, followed by more desserts than I could've possibly imagined or eaten!

Boxing Day was spent with friends and pretty much consisted of more food and drink being consumed...

My two favorite events this year occurred before and after December 25th - On the 21st, Mr Brimble and I travelled to London for a special Christmas lunch with a group of our friends. The venue? The infamous jazz club, "Ronnie Scotts"! This is my fourth visit to this fabulous place - an absolute must for jazz fans and lovers of good champagne and food. Dark and intimate, it's hard not to be there and not think wistfully of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.

Then after the big event, we visited my favorite place in the world - Bourton-on-the Water. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! When I win the lottery, i intend buying a Georgian house right on the water. If any of you lovely Americans visit the UK - please carve out time of an undoubtedly busy schedule to visit this beautiful village nestled deep in the Cotswolds. You won't regret it :)

That's my Xmas done - bring on the New Year!

Happy New Year Rachel!

In the morning I'll be looking up Bourton-on-the-Water and Ronnie

Going overboard on the desserts at Christmas is a tradition around here also.

Rachel, what a lovely way to round out the year. Methinks you did it up right. And Bournton-on-the-Water looks (and sounds!) amazing!

Good afternoon, ladies! (well, evening here in the UK!). Thanks so much for stopping by :)

Kaelee & Kris - you MUST look up Bourton-on-the-Water! It is about an hour's drive from where I live and I adore it there. I try to go at least once every season because it looks different each time but just as beautiful.

Mary - New beginnings, nothing better :)

Rogenna - LOL! You made me laugh - I'll be sure to tell him you said so. That will make his day!

Hau'oli makahiki hou e Rachel (Happy New Year). I would love to visit the Cotswolds and Bourton-on-the-water sometime :) Want to go to New Zealand before I go to England though. Hoping I can do both one of these years. Got to get the kid through school first!
