Abby Gaines has always been preoccupied with words—she wrote her first romance novel in high school. When that effort was speedily rejected by Harlequin Mills & Boon in London, Abby put aside her author-ish ambitions, and set her heart first on becoming a librarian, then a translator (she studied French, Japanese, German and Spanish in college), then a lexicographer (someone who writes dictionaries – turns out there aren’t a lot of jobs going). She took a detour to join IBM, then worked as a PR consultant. When her first child was born, Abby became a freelance business journalist, writing thousands of words on subjects that interested her, but never grabbed her heart. Then she had the brainwave of having another go at a romance novel. Unfortunately, her fiction writing hadn’t improved much since that first attempt—it took her nearly six years to get the hang of it. But she got there in the end—now, Abby has had more than 20 books accepted for publication across Harlequin’s NASCAR, Superromance and Love Inspired Historical series. Abby lives with her husband, three kids, labradoodle dog, and a cat of indeterminate origin. She loves to cook, ski, read and travel – but has never attempted all four simultaneously.
