Favorite Christmas Movies

Merry Christmas!

We've been making a habit of watching holiday movies in my house, and rediscovering some great, old favorites along the way.

Do you remember these classics:

- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)

- Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

- A Christmas Carol (1938, 1984)

- White Christmas (1954)

- It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

Some of these we hadn't watched in years, but we enjoyed them all.  Then, there are these more recent favorites:

- The Holiday (2006)

- A Christmas Story (1983)

- Love, Actually (2003)

I'm looking for more titles.  Any suggestions?  What are your favorite Christmas movies?

Cathryn Parry is the author of two Harlequin Superromances.  Her second, THE LONG WAY HOME, is in stores now.  You may find out more about Cathryn at

At our house, Christmas Vacation is hands-down the favorite :-) We've watched it so many times, we say the lines along with the characters!
My all-time favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas. I'm a pushover for musicals.

I adore Love, Actually. That and the Grinch (yes, the old one, not that Jim Carrey thing with the odd makeup) are my two favorites. My kids love the old Charlie Brown Christmas. And we love, love, love the original Santa Clause with Tim Allen morphing before our eyes. Magic and joy - it doesn't get much better than that.

Hi Pamela! I haven't seen Christmas Vacation in years. Thanks! I will find this one.

Hi Kris! I agree about the Grinch. And I was sad we missed Charlie Brown this year. Will have to rent that one, too.

Cathryn, we've been watching Christmas movies, too. Christmas Vacation is my husband's favorite while mine is It's A Wonderful Life *g*

Arthur Christmas is very cute as is Fred Claus. Still on our list to watch are: Four Christmases, Holiday Inn and Miracle on 34th Street (the original)

We don't really watch a lot of TV except for the news and the outdoor channels. Now that my son is off at school, it's pretty much only the news. I work on another island so am gone from home 4 to 5 evenings a week and don't watch TV or go to the movies. My all time favorite though is Charlie Brown Christmas.

Hi Beth! I have never seen Four Christmases. Thanks for the tip!
I love "It's a Wonderful Life" best, too!

Hi Snookie! I've been watching AMC mostly this month, because it's playing Christmas movies. We don't go much to the theater, either. Love Netflix, though!

We always enjoy THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL. Dickens like you've never seen it before.
