Because My Memory Sucks

I forgot to write a blog. I could blame it on only recently getting my power back after the storms tore through quite a few states, including Ohio. I could blame it on the roof damage, house damage, tree damage and ultimately the power outage that led to us losing our frozen foods. Or, that in the midst of the storm and the unbearable heat, we're in the middle of updating our kitchen and my house looked like a disaster zone BEFORE the power went out.

But I won't. ;)

Because all of those excuses doesn't hold a candle to the fact that I just forgot to write the blog. And I'm sorry. So to make up for the late posting here I'm going to offer up a prize to one lucky commenter who will tell me about the weather/mood in their neck of the woods. How hot is it? (OMG) Or better yet--Do you have power???

The prize is winner's choice of 3 of my backlist books (if available), or if you already have them, something I can come up with as a surprise gift LOL.

To take a gander at the choices, visit my website at www.kaystockham.com.

And, please, let me apologize again for the lameness of the blog.

And again.

And again.

I'm sorry!

"Because My Memory Sucks"? Get in line, Kay. I swear I have joined that group (too). It DOES suck, though, when our memories let us down. My heart goes out to you, but please remember that this too will pass. Besides - you'll probably forget about it in a few days' time, LOL! Seriously, though, I'm glad you're doing okay, despite all the aggrevations noted above.
In answer to your question, it is extremely hot where I live in Southern Ontario, Canada. Thank God for air conditioning - and power to run it. Usually we get this weather in August, so I'm waiting for power outages to occur any time now (because of all the AC on everywhere). With the Humidex, it is around 100F here (and high 90s without it). This is what we get when we had such a mild winter....

HOT's the word in Texas. Stifling humidity that makes it hard to breathe. When you gotta suck on ice chips so that your lungs can function (they tighten in humidity), then it's time to head indoors. But who can stay inside when there's beautiful Texas lakes to explore. Like flies drawn to water....see ya on the boat!

Oh, Kay! It's 102 here and it's not dry heat, but I have power and AC. I hope you and yours are all okay after such a storm.

So sorry about all that you're going through, fortunately where I am we've missed out on that horrible, extreme weather, here it's just been plain old dreary non-stop. Today, finally, we have sunshine and it's actually supposed to last for a few consecutive days. Around here that's a miracle.

We have power - but no stove. We got hit by lightening on Sunday and it fried our stove. The wiring is gone. So sad, but we bought a new stove yesterday that will deliver 7/12. Now, we need to get an electrician to check our wiring. Plus, we get to microwave or grill all of our food.

So sorry about all you are going through, Kay and I love your books.

Well I live not far from you, and yes my power went out too but fortunely it didn't stay out long!! I invited friends over that didn't have power and they stayed with me for a couple of days :). I have two mini schnauzers in my house with me so thank goodness it didn't go out for long I don't think they could've handled it!! (me either for that matter). I love all your books and have read them several times, your a great author keep up the good work!!!

Love,
Sarah, from coal grove, oh :)

Hugs to everyone who has suffered through the fires, power outages and other problems hitting the US at the moment (have been reading about it in the paper).

But Down Under we're in the middle of winter so it is really cold (sitting with the heater blowing on my legs). I live in Queensland where the houses are designed for summer heat - so in winter it is often colder inside then out!

Oh, with all that happenning, a blog isn't even a blip on the radar. Good wishes that everything turns out okay.
Today we are having our first day of summer after the longest coldest winter/spring on record. Sunshine!!

We're in the middle of a heatwave. We're in the 90s and the AC is working overtime.

You guys rock! Love all the 'weather reports'. And to be in winter now?! I can't imagine it given the heat outside. Seems so surreal.

Truly, we have very, very little damage in comparison to some of those around us. My BIL for instance. His kitchen roof was torn off in the midst of the storm and they had wind and water pouring into the house and onto their beautiful, antique hardwood floors his grandfather had installed himself nearly 75 years ago. :( I shouldn't complain at all but I will say it's part of my memory loss issue LOL.

For those of you in the heat, be sure to drink lots of fluids and check on the fur-babies! I saw a pic yesterday of burned paws from a dog walking on asphalt. It was horrible!

Thanks for stopping in,

Kay

And it has been hot here - 4 days of 104 - then it cooled down to 99. We will be back to 101 on Saturday. And with the humidity is seems even hotter. I don;t even want to go outside.

It rained in Avondale AZ on the 4th of July. Thank God!! THe heat the day before was unbearable. Due to the rain, the temps never got above the low 80s. Hawaii kind of weather! On the 5th, it was hotter, in the high 90s and up to 102, not bad considering what it was when we first got here. Its strange to see the sun not go down until after 8 p.m. and to go outside when it's dark and it's still so hot. Not at all like our island weather.

I live in the San Diego area and actually this summer we have had great weather...even if the temp gets to 85 degrees it's still pretty nice...we mostly have a cool breeze off the ocean which helps. Come visit us in cool San Diego!
