I just want to add to my comments from the previous blog. Room is by Emma Donoghue and is basically the story of Jack, a five year old boy who has lived his life in a single room with his mother. His mother had been abducted and locked up in a garden shed fitted out like a small house. Her abductor visits her on a regular basis. This is not a happy ever after book but the character development is so well done that you just get enmeshed in the story. It does have a hopeful ending.
