Meet the authors of SuperRomance Authors Blog...
Beth Andrews
Beth Andrews is a Romance Writers of America RITA® Award and Golden Heart winner. She lives in Northwestern Pennsylvania with her husband and three children. When not writing, Beth loves to cook, make bead jewelry and, of course, curl up with a good book. For more information about Beth or her upcoming books, visit her website at www.bethandrews.net.
Carrie Weaver
Carrie’s novels reflect real life and real love, with all the ups downs and emotion involved. “...Each page comes alive with joy and sadness,” says reviewer Pat Wilson, Rendezvous Magazine. Carrie’s professional kudos include nominations for the prestigious Romance Writers of America RITA Award, the Booksellers’ Best Award and the RT BookClub Reviewers’ Choice Award. A reader first and foremost, Carrie finds chocolate and a good book can make any problem seem more manageable.
Darlene Gardner
Darlene Gardner probably isn’t the only romance novelist who used to be a sportswriter but she dares you to name another! After giving up working for daily newspapers, Darlene embarked on a fiction career that landed her at Harlequin/Silhouette, where she's currently writing for Superromance. She's also written for Temptation, Duets and Intimate Moments as well as Dorchester Love Spell and Avalon. And, yes, she still loves sports!
Dawn Atkins
I always wanted to be a writer--from the moment I put fat pencil to brown-lined paper in second grade to write an elaborate story using all the spelling words on our list. Though I always wanted to be a professional writer, I wasn't sure I had the stuff, so I graduated from college with a teaching degree and taught elementary school--second and third grades (the best)--and then began freelance feature writing for newspapers and magazines, local and national. I left teaching to work in public relations--skills I use today in my job as a writer/editor for the Arizona Education Association.
Debra Salonen
Debra has always thought of herself as a writer. Her first attempt at self-publishing involved crayons and the underside of her mother’s coffee table. Her mother was not amused. Deb’s fourth-grade teacher predicted that Deb would become a writer someday, but a far more practical high school teacher squashed that idea, saying, “Journalism? Maybe. Fiction? Get real.” As a feature writer for a newspaper, Deb honed her craft and learned the value of the editorial process. Eventually, she was able to leave her non-fiction career behind and focus on her love of story. Her first Superromance came out in 2000. Since then she has written 23 Supers, a Signature Saga, three Harlequin Americans and one on-line serial. Her “Tuesdays in Debland” blog is filled with photos, writerly grousing, general nonsense and the occasional contest. You can join the madness--for free!-at www.debrasalonen.com.
Elaine Grant
When Elaine was five, she decided she wanted to be a writer who illustrated her own books. In third grade her first short story was published in the local weekly newspaper. There was no turning back then!
At sixteen she began her first novel--an English historical about a highwayman. That one's still in the works. In 1998, her first novel was published by Berkley-Jove Haunting Hearts. It incorporated romance with her love of Southern lore--ghosts, a reverence for tradition, and long, sultry days perfect for falling in love. Her last three Harlequin Superromances are set in Montana. She loves horses, gardening, baseball, eating sushi with her son when he's home. She currently lives in Louisiana.
Ellen Hartman
Ellen has been making a living as a writer since she got her creative writing degree from Carnegie Mellon University and went to work for Microsoft. She spent fifteen years writing technical manuals no one ever read until she decided to take a shot at writing what she loves—romance. Ellen wrote much of her first novel in the back of a preschool classroom while she was trying to ease her son's separation anxiety. She had agreed to stick around for a day, maybe two. Somehow—the exact chain of events is hazy—one day turned into a full year of scribbling in a notebook on the bench in the corner. Her son is now a completely independent elementary school student (phew!), and that book became her first sale. Ellen and her husband met on a blind date on New Year's Eve in a mutual love-at-first-sight moment—which would make an awesome novel, if only her husband would agree to be "fictionalized."
Helen Brenna
Helen Brenna grew up in a small town in central Minnesota, the seventh of eight children. Although she never dreamed of writing books, she’s always been a voracious reader of romances. After taking a break from her accounting career, she tried her hand at writing the romances she loves to read and now can’t imagine doing anything else.
Her books have won not only Romance Writers of America’s most prestigious award, the RITA, but also numerous other awards, including Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice, the HOLT Medallion, Book Buyers Best and the National Readers’ Choice Award. Helen lives with her family in Minnesota. Email her at helenbrenna@comcast.net or send mail to PO Box 24107, Minneapolis, MN 55424. Visit her website at www.helenbrenna.com or chat with Helen and other authors at http://ridingwiththetopdown.blogspot.com.
Jeannie Watt
Jeannie Watt started writing as a teen, but didn’t pursue publication until her two children were in high school. She suspects that she holds the unofficial world record for writing chapters 1-3 over and over again, before abandoning them to go on to a “better” idea. When she finally started writing past chapter three, she discovered that she had a surprising knack for middles and ends. Apparently all those beginnings had been good practice. She sold her second completed manuscript, A Difficult Woman, to Harlequin SuperRomance in 2006, and since then has written ten more books.
Jeannie had degrees in geology and education. She and her husband live off the grid in a historic ranching community, which is why she loves to write cowboys. Some of her closest friends as ranchers and her mother and stepfather raise cattle in Montana. She teaches junior high science when she isn’t writing books or feeding horses.
Joan Kilby
When Joan Kilby isn't working on her latest romance novel she can usually be found sipping a latte in a sidewalk café and indulging in her favorite pasttime of people watching. Joan lives in Melbourne, Australia with her husband and three children. She's the award-winning author of nearly twenty Harlequin Superromances.
Karina Bliss
On average, romance authors take 5 years and write 4.5 manuscripts before they get their first book contract. Despite her willingness to be the exception, journalist Karina Bliss ended up fitting that statistic almost exactly. En route, she became the first Australasian to win a Golden Heart from the Romance Writers of America. Her debut, Mr Imperfect, was published by Harlequin Superromance in Sept 06 and won a Romantic Book of the Year Award in Australia. Since then she’s written nine books for Superromance.
Kathleen O'Brien
Kathleen comes from a family of writers--though she may be the one shameless romantic in the bunch. A true Cancer, she values home and family above everything and wouldn't dream of ditching a single friend, memory, gift, or love letter. Consequently, her office is a mess, full of books, colored cut glass, photo albums, Madame Alexander dolls, and a cockatiel who whistles the theme from "The X Files." A five-time Rita finalist, she's written more than 30 books for Harlequin, everything from sexy contemporaries to dark, brooding suspense.
Kay Stockham
Kay Stockham lives in Ohio with her husband and family, and has been nominated for the RITA, HOLT Medallion and Book Buyers Best awards. For more information on her books, please visit Kay on Facebook, Twitter and at www.kaystockham.com.
Kimberly Van Meter
Kimberly Van Meter wrote her first book at 16 and finally achieved publication in December 2006. She writes for Harlequin Superromance and Silhouette Romantic Suspense. She and her husband of 19 years have three children, three cats and always a houseful of friends, family, and fun.
Lenora Worth
Lenora Worth has written 35 books for three different publishers. She reached a milestone in 2006 when she received her 25th book pin from Steeple Hill and Harlequin. Her books have won both regional and national awards and she now has over 1 million books in print. Currently she is writing both Love Inspired and Love Inspired Suspense for Steeple Hill. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Lenora has two grown children. She wrote a weekly opinion column for five years for the local paper and currently also writes freelance for a local magazine. Lenora lives in Louisiana.
Liz Talley
From the time she learned to read to the present, Liz Talley has always had a fascination with books. As a child she read Little Golden Books instead of napping. And, oh, the first time she read a romance - The Thornbirds – she was hooked. She ate up the Superromances on the shelves of her aunt's used bookstore, borrowed her grandmother's medical romances, and poked through her dad's westerns for the "romantic parts" (which lasted about a page).
Of course, it never occurred to Liz to write a book until her college roommate said, "You read so many of those things, why don't you write one?" The idea stuck with her. After a stint as an English teacher and stay at home mom, Liz found writing a great way to avoid an ever-growing pile of laundry. After a Golden Heart final with a Regency romance, Liz started her career in contemporary romance on the same day she met her editor. Coincidence? She prefers to call it fate.
Linda Warren
Linda Warren loves happy endings. The Rita® nominated and award winning author has written 26 books for Harlequin, including Superromance and American. Drawing upon her years of growing up on a farm/ranch in Texas, she writes about sexy heroes, feisty heroines and broken families with an emotional punch all set against the backdrop of Texas. She lives in College Station with her husband and spends her days doing what she loves—creating unforgettable love stories—with happy endings.
Margaret Watson
I’ve made up stories in my head for as long as I can remember – I put myself to sleep at night when I was young by rewriting the plots and endings of books I’d read. I assumed this was normal and everyone else did the same thing until I began getting weird looks when I talked about it. It wasn’t until I joined RWA years later that I realized it didn’t mean I was weird – it meant I was a writer.
When I was twelve I decided I wanted to write books when I grew up, but I got sidetracked by my love of animals and the need for a ‘real’ job, so I became a veterinarian instead. Eighteen years ago, when I realized I was now making up stories about my clients and their pets, I decided to try putting them down on paper. My first effort, which I still have in my office, was bad enough to make me squirm when I re-read it now, but I did learn one thing from that first manuscript – that making up stories is what I want to do.
Mary Brady
Mary lives in the Midwest with her hero husband, her could-not-ask-for-a-better-one son, and a cheeky little bird. She doesn't roam all the time, and when she's at home, the thing she loves the most is being part of a family.
Mary Sullivan
After Mary discovered Harlequin Superromance, she wanted to write these heartfelt stories of love, family and happy endings. Her novel, NO ORDINARY COWBOY, was the winner of an RT 2009 Reviewer’s Choice award and of RomCon’s 2010 Reader’s Choice award for Best First Book. Who knew daydreaming could be so rewarding?
Molly O'Keefe
Molly O'Keefe has always known she wanted to be a writer (except when she wanted to be a florist or a chef and the brief period of time when she considered being a cowgirl). And once she got her hands on some romances, she knew exactly what she wanted to write. She published her first Harlequin romance at age 25 and hasn't looked back. She loves exploring every character's road towards happily ever after.
Originally from a small town outside of Chicago, she went to university in St. Louis where she met and fell in love with the editor of her school newspaper. They followed each other around the world for several years and finally got married and settled down in Toronto, Ontario. They welcomed their son into their family in 2006, and their daughter in 2008. When she's not at the park or cleaning up the toy room, Molly is working hard on her next novel, trying to exercise, stalking Tina Fey on the internet and dreaming of the day she can finish a cup of coffee without interruption.
Rogenna Brewer
When an aptitude test labeled her suited for librarian or clergy, Rogenna tried to shake that good girl image by joining the Navy. Ever the rebel, she landed in the Chaplain’s office where her duties included operating the base library. A romantic adventurer at heart, she served Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps personnel as a Chaplain’s yeoman in such exotic locales as Midway Island and the Pentagon.
After many misadventures, mostly with men, Rogenna married her sailor and had three sons—one for each deployment. Eventually, the family made their way home to the land-locked west where Rogenna’s imagination is free to roam, but often wanders back to sea. She loves to hear from readers. You can email her at rogenna@aol.com or visit her website at www.rogennabrewer.com.

After being a gypsy for many, many years, Sarah has finally settled back in her home town and is currently renovating her new home. She recently married her long-time love and is looking forward to proper anniversaries from here on in. Before she became a full-time writer, she worked as both a magazine editor and a story liner, script writer and story editor on Australian and New Zealand serial dramas, as well as co-creating the teen drama Karaoke High. When she’s not writing, Sarah loves to read, cook, shop, garden and sleep. Not necessarily in that order! She loves hearing from readers via her website at www.sarahmayberry.com.
Stella MacLean
The Real Me...
I have no official bio as you've probably discovered if you've roamed around this site for very long. But that's okay as far as I'm concerned. To begin with, there's nothing 'official' about me. I'm quite happy to stay home, share time with my hubby, read and write to my heart's content. Sure, there's lots of other things I could be doing, like joining a health club or learning to play bridge, but that means I'd have to give up my lackadaisical lifestyle. Besides, who would tend to my cat Emma's every whim and wish if I wasn't home?
My Real Life...
I'm more or less a case of what you see is what you get. I love clothes, but I don't like shopping for them. I love to eat, but I'm completely tired of cooking after forty years of it. I hate grocery shopping because I can't seem to find anything I'm looking for as I wander around the grocery store aisles. I swear that the grocery store designers do that to me intentionally, hoping I'll do a WHOLE bunch of impulse buying before I drag my weary body to the checkout.
Tara Taylor Quinn
With over 50 original novels, published in more than twenty languages, Tara Taylor Quinn is a USA Today bestselling author with more than six million copies sold. When she’s not home with her owners, Jerry Lee and Taylor Marie, or fulfilling speaking engagements, Tara loves to travel with her husband, stopping wherever the spirit takes them. They’ve been spotted in casinos and quaint little small town antique shops all across the country.
Tracy Wolff
Tracy Wolff collects books, English degrees and lipsticks and has been known to forget where—and sometimes who—she is when immersed in a great novel. At six she wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—and at seven she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. Now an English professor at her local community college, she writes romances that run the gamut from contemporary to paranormal to erotic suspense.
And for all of those who want the unedited version:
Tracy Wolff lives with four men, teaches writing to local college students and spends as much time as she can manage immersed in worlds of her own creation. Married to the alpha hero of her dreams for twelve years, she is the mother of three young sons who spend most of their time trying to make her as crazy as possible. You can find Tracy also on Twitter, www.tracywolff.blogspot.com and www.sizzlingpens.blogspot.com.
